We are grateful to Ivo Bouman, The Hague, for confirming the attribution of the present painting on the basis of a high-resolution digital photograph. Until 1991, the sheet was part of an extensive Swiss collection with drawings from Isaac Israels, mainly with motifs of his traveling. The stamp at the bottom left also dates from this time.
